Dave getting that hand rubbed look doing everything right about how many coats did it take you??
I could not find any 800 grit paper, but I did find the 1000 and 1500
Like I told you I did the 600 grit I am thinking about stopping there, or do you think I should order the 800 grit?
I will be going to our local gun shop here in Mt. Airy, Md. to see if they have the Tru-Oil

Re: Tru_Oil Question
A good 600 should do the job.
6-9 coats is what I use. That's pretty thin, but I don't make mine to be played in a grunge band.

Re: Tru_Oil Question
Dave I put the first coat of Tru-Oil on today. There was not much at all to take off as it went in right fast, which I thought it would.
I guess it will take a couple coats to do like you do in your video.
After the third coat and I sand with the 1000 grit do I use anything except air to clean it?

Re: Tru_Oil Question
In my video I was basically pore-filling and just starting to build. Since you have already pore-filled you will be following Pettingill's method of three coats without anything in between, then the next morning doing some sanding, then 3 coats, next morning sanding etc.
As far as cleaning it - ounce of prevention - keep dust and other flying material off of it one way or another, at least while it is tacky, then blow it off in the morning. Are you doing this in your house, or shop?

Re: Tru_Oil Question
Dave I am doing this in my shop and I keep my shop real clean, but as you know there are still air borne dust . I really have no other place to do this, but I still think it's pretty clean in my shop.
