So I had this 36" x 4" x 3/4" Bocote board for a number of years and the other day I saw it and said to myself: I bet I can get some cool bridges from this. So today since I've been making up some bridges I looked again and figured out that I could get 2 bridges, 2 fretboard, and some bindings out of it. There was one large knot I needed to work around.
So I cut it up and I got the bridge and fretboard blanks and 6 strips that when cut down the middle, and sized I'll have 12 bindings. Beautiful wood with a great tap tone. Fresh cut it's a yellow tone with dark brown and black lines but it does oxidize to a more muted brown tone.
I think they'll look great pared with the right top, back and sides
