Peruvian walnut back and sides

Post by K Wiebusch » Tue Apr 28, 2020 1:40 pm

I have joined and thickness sanded a pretty set of Walnut. I also have the back strip brace in. I have always wondered if this is necessary. If I were to flex this to break I know the wood would break before the glue joint. The walnut has the tap tone of a cardboard box. I am sure it will get better with back bracing on. Have any of you built with walnut with good results?

Yes, Walnut has a very disturbing abcense of taptone.
But to make you feel at ease: I made one with walnut and it one of my best.
Take a good ringy top and you'll be fine.
