Wow! Very nice. Is that large part (that I don't know the name of) made of brass? I've never seen a plane like that, at least not in person.

That is the lever cap, or actually a cap iron on this plane. It is cast iron, was nickle plated, but that was long gone. I just cleaned it on the wire wheel.
